A Quick Note of Excitement

An incredible day for a this fangirl. Twitter is awesome. I'm starting out with that statement. Not only does it allow me to keep up with people, it gives me an opportunity to follow celebrities in ways I never imagined possible. When I was a little girl watching Full House I never thought that I'd be able to follow Danny Tanner.

So, I'm a Kevin Smith fan. All the way. I have a whole shelf of DVDs that are either his own work or just things he popped up in. I'm a fan. That being said, I of course follow him on Twitter.

Here's what he Tweeted:

Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving to my adopted home planet of Canada. I'd like to enter the red chamber, lose my powers, and have sex with you.

Goren and Eames

I love Law and Order Criminal Intent. It is a fantastic show and the truth of the matter is that I started to watch it because of Vincent D'Onofrio. I believe it to be one of the more original shows that has been on TV in the last 10 years. Bobby Goren is a truly interesting and unique character. And the interaction between Goren and everyone else is part of the reason that I maintained this fandom.

Like many, I was upset when they announced that Vincent D'Onofrio was leaving and that Kathyrn Erbe was going to be phased out along with Eric Bogosian. In all honesty I probably won't continue to watch the show without these two main characters/actors. But I won't be boycotting the show or the network for that matter. In most of the interviews I've read D'Onofrio has said that he's decided to leave because they've done all that they can with his character. And I can see the reasoning behind that logic. He has given a lot to this show and this character. Anyone else remember why they brought the second team in? Because VDO collapsed on set a couple of times, he's given his all to this franchise and has decided to move on from it.

Kathyrn Erbe has also been with the show all along. Most shows don't last this long and if they do the cast usually switches out much earlier. Am I bummed out about the direction the show will probably end up taking? Of course. Am I angry? No. I like USA Network. They allowed CI to go somewhere that it never would've been able to as a lead in for SVU. We got some REALLY GREAT development with Bobby's character and Alex for that matter.

As a fan of both of these actors I'm hoping that this will give them both the opportunity to do more work. VDO has mostly done smaller roles during his years on CI and hopefully this'll mean I have to clear out some space on my D'Onofrio DVD shelf for new movies.

Plus. There's always fanfiction. Goodness knows that's what I've been using during the season break.

But again, I certainly won't be boycotting USA. Hello, Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, Psych, they do have good shows.

Mad Men, Life on Mars, and Other Delights

Finally started watching Mad Men, didn't go out and buy it mind you. Netflix baby. It's actually an interesting show and I'm really enjoying it. Don Draper is a bit of a tool, personally I'd like to see more of some of the other characters. Definitely going to add season 2 to my queue.

Life on Mars came out on DVD today. Waiting till Friday to get it. I really wish that life would've lasted a little longer. Such a terrific show, interesting, incredible cast, and just down right fun. However, it seems that a lot of the shows that actually require thought don't last too long. Of course that just might be me being bitter about loosing a weekly installment of Michael Imperioli and awesome 70s music. A show worth checking out. The best summation of this show "Like the UK version; except with less tea and more ass kicking."

Hooked on Alias! Holy crap! I have no words to describe how much I adore this show... that's a lie, I can find the words. Spy shows are going to win me over every time. They have ever since I was a little girl, running around dressed all in black, calling myself Jane Bond. There's humor in it, constant ass kicking, disguises, gadgets and Victor Garber. Everything required for an awesome show. Who would've thought that the best friend from Sleepless in Seattle would make such an awesome Spy-dad. Also Tarantino makes a couple of appearances... that's where I lack words. There was a small appearance by Ricky Gervais as well, Jack Bristow kicks his ass. So worth buying season 3. I'm working my way through season 4 right now and will get around to 5 shortly.

Have found myself enjoying NCIS lately. Considering that it's on a constant loop on USA and that my dad and sister are both big fans. I always avoided because I didn't want to get sucked into another crime show but this one seems to be original in its mannerisms.

Watched the movie Management with my sister this afternoon. It's Steve Zahn and Jennifer Anniston. An okay movie, drags a bit here and there. Kind of a way to tell those future stalkers out there that if you persist it'll work out for ya. Not required viewing by any means, but there are worse things you could watch.

Well that's about all for tonight.

Oh My

Okay a couple of things.

First: Got the Comic-Con tickets this morning! Yay! So much excitement, going with my sister this time. Should be interesting, sis isn't super fluent in geek.

What exactly does this: Where does that leave Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe? The CI vets are in talks to return in some capacity mean? I can pretty much guarantee that if VDO isn't back on they loose me as a viewer. That thought seriously makes my stomach fall a little. What is CI without Goren and Eames?

Third: Big Bang Theory Season 2 on DVD, a review will be up later on.

Also don't forget that the season finale of America's Got Talent is on tonight. I'm hoping for Grandma Lee to win... I think.

Small Lapse

Well didn't post anything yesterday because I didn't really have anything to write about. Also had some reading and note taking to do for school. Didn't really watch anything worth reporting on yesterday. Basically went back and forth between news shows and HGTV until it was time for Conan to start.

Tonight I had auditions for the sketch comedy group down on campus so I was there until about 8 p.m. Didn't get home until 9, ate a BLT minus the T plus Italian dressing (I'm a weird eater) like it was going out of style. I had been at auditions since 4.30 so I was crazy hungry when I finally got home. Did my sign language homework which was delightful because the DVD I have to use for it looks like it's from the 80s. Seriously the people doing the signing are crazy 80s fashion.

Caught the end of Law and Order SVU, which I stopped watching last year because it just got to a point where I couldn't anymore. And now I'm just kicking it with Conan. I love that red headed funny man! Headed for bed after this, if I can't sleep I've got Mah Jong on the iPhone baby!

Night night

Friday in the House

Slow day. Drove down to campus to go see the sketch comedy show that I want to try out for. Got there early, had some lunch and no one ever showed up to do the show. My friend and I waited for about half an hour, nobody even showed up to say that it was cancelled. So I drove 40 minutes to campus, on a day when I don't usually have to, had lunch and then turned around to come back.

On the plus side, swung by Target on my way back and picked up House season 5.
A fantastic season for many different reasons:
1) It's House, how fantastic is that!
2) Some of the best episodes and guest stars (Meat Loaf!)
3) My most favorite: The year of House and Cuddy! Vindication for "those crazy Huddy fans"
4) The Kutner thing, which was an episode I had missed and was stunned by.
Such a great season and I'm hoping for some gold at the Emmys this year.

And that is that for this moment in time.

Enjoy some geekin' during the weekend... that did not work like I hoped it would.

WGA Strike Support; Plea From a Fan Girl

Right now if you were to look at my livejournal page you would see that my profile icon, in the font of Law & Order, proclaims:

No CHA-CHING equals no DOINK-DOINK.
Law & Order: CI fans support the WGA strike.

For those who don't dig the whole Law & Order scene, the Doink-doink is that noise heard through out the show. (I'm sure that explanation provoked a collective "oh!")

And yes I do support the strike. As an aspiring TV & Film writer I absolutely support the strike. I think that by striking the writers have proven just how important they are to the entertainment industry. Often portrayed and referred to as the low man on the totem pole, or at least that's how it seems to be in my film classes at school, the writers are finally getting some attention.

TV shows are running out of new episodes and some films have had to shut down production without access to a WGA approved writer. There are two new episodes left of Law & Order: CI. As of right now there is only one more new episode of Numb3rs being spoiled on Spoilerfix.com. So having establishing my support, I now would like to establish my, as well as many other TV addicts, incredible need for the strike to be resolved.

On Tuesday afternoon I'm sitting in an English class. It's one of those instances where you would rather be anywhere else in the world or maybe banging your head against a wall. Just because it would be something else to do. About twelve minutes in to class my mind has wandered off to the episode of House that will be awaiting me after an hour and a half spent in traffic. After House is the latest episode of Law & Order SVU. Granted I haven't been quite as excited lately because of the obvious and painful lack of Richard Belzer's character John Munch. However that is another rant for another time.

Thursday all I can think about is Law & Order Criminal Intent. The entire day has become dedicated to this show thanks to the USA Network and their all day marathon. I wake up, watch a few episodes, leave for school, get back from school and watch a few more reruns. The new episode beginning later that night. My fangirling of Vincent D'Onofrio is also part of this process.

And let us not forget the late night shows. How I miss my Conan O'Brien. Week nights just aren't the same. There's no new Jay Leno to mock, no Lettermen to annoy. No new Conan to giggle over. And by giggle I of course mean laugh insanely hard to the point that I wonder if I've woken some one up.

It has become a slightly sadder world for those of us addicted to Television. Although I have been catching up on DVDs I had been putting aside because, silly me, I had purchased them on a night of new episodes. Of course I'm also running out on DVDs to catch up on now.

So this is merely a blind plea. Give as much support as you can to the WGA. However, at the same time hope for a resolution soon. Cause I want to see House and Cuddy get it on.

Lets Play Catch Up

It's been a while so here's a new post!

HARRY POTTER: Oh my God! Deathly Hollows was incredible and to many a people out there TOLD YOU SO! That's all I have to say on this because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.

OBSESSIONS: Love for Studio 60 has been rekindled thanks to Mark McKinney and Timothy Busfield. However I remain incredibly pissed that it won't be coming back for a second season. I do however have most of the episodes off of iTunes and intend to get the DVDs when they come out.

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/showinfo.cfm?showID=10129

Comes out in October and includes audio commentary so you know that I'll be there.

Mark McKinney has become a new favorite of mine (now I love two of the Kids in the Hall). A new actor obsession means one thing of course: finding obscure movies that he has been in. Always a fun task to focus on.

Timothy Busfield has also become a new favorite thanks in large part to Studio 60 and West Wing. My birthday present this year was the Complete Series of West Wing. If you haven't watched this show it's your loss.

Speaking of Busfield, isn't it incredible when you find out a past role that someone has been in. I bring up this because of a little movie I love dearly called Revenge of the Nerds. Poindexter always seemed oddly familiar to me and I just couldn't figure out why. Then I figure it out:

Poindexter:

Also Poindexter:

Blew my mind a little bit.

Okay so that's all I've got for right now. School in a little bit. Today we watch Jurrasic Park, my parents are thrilled that they pay tution for me to watch movies then discuss them. Haha.

Oh a little note on Revenge of the Nerds, if ever you get the chance to watch the movie with the audio commentary it is totally worth it! The commentary is as funny as the movie.
